Election Commission (EC) Member Hassan Zakariyya has said the introduction of the eFaas system has resolved the issue of individuals being registered with political parties without their knowledge.

Speaking during a State media programme, Hassan said complaints about unauthorised party registrations have stopped since the registration process was integrated with eFaas.

He explained that while the Simedha Portal was introduced to improve the management of political party membership records, complaints continued because there was no reliable system to verify membership forms. The introduction of eFaas has now addressed that issue, ensuring party registrations are carried out with the applicant's verification.

Hassan also noted that eFaas has made it easier for members to resign from political parties. Previously, members had to submit their resignation directly to the party, but they can now withdraw their membership independently through the eFaas system, including those holding elected or senior positions.

He added that the Election Commission will continue working with political parties to resolve issues affecting parties and their members through existing laws and regulations.
