Namibia's High Commissioner to the Maldives, Alex L. Tukuhupwele, presented his Letter of Credence to President Dr Mohamed Muizzu today. A traditional Haiykolhu procession, accompanied by the Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) Drum and Trumpet Band, escorted the High Commissioner to the President's Office.

President Dr Muizzu and High Commissioner Tukuhupwele later discussed cooperation in tourism, trade and investment, fisheries, health sector development and the exchange of expertise between the two countries. The discussions concluded with both sides reaffirming their commitment to strengthening relations between the Maldives and Namibia. Diplomatic relations between the two countries were established on 26 July 1990.
