A total of 16 specialist and sub-specialist doctors have joined Dharumavantha Hospital and Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH) after completing their specialist training this year.

Male' City Group of Hospitals (MCGH) CEO Ibrahim Abdul Razzaq Haleem said the new specialists include doctors trained in emerging fields such as neurointerventional radiology, paediatric dentistry, neonatology and clinical haematology.

He added that the hospitals have also strengthened services in key specialties, including orthopaedics, internal medicine, radiology and ear, nose and throat (ENT) care.

CEO Haleem said cardiothoracic and vascular surgery, interventional radiology and other advanced services aimed at expanding cardiac and neurological care are also expected to be introduced this year.

He noted that the expansion of specialist services marks an important step towards reducing the need for Maldivians to seek medical treatment overseas.

The CEO also commended doctors, nurses, healthcare professionals and support staff for their continued service and encouraged them to provide quality healthcare with compassion and professionalism.
