The Minister of Education, Dr Ismail Shafeeu, has announced that Maldivian teachers will soon have the opportunity to write textbooks for Cambridge International (CIA) subjects.
Speaking about the initiative, the Minister highlighted that Cambridge International examinations have been offered in Maldives schools for 23 years, and expressed confidence in the ability of Maldivian teachers to produce high-quality textbooks and digital content for Cambridge syllabuses.
Dr Shafeeu also noted that many students in local schools currently rely on teacher-prepared notes and highlighted that Maldivian educators have already created superior study materials compared to those available from abroad.
The Minister confirmed that the opportunity to write books will be open to interested individuals and teams starting next week, and called on experienced teachers to take the lead in producing these resources.
This initiative is expected to reduce the country's reliance on imported textbooks, lower the cost of printing study materials for schools, and encourage environmentally friendly practices.
