Former High Court Judge Uz Shuaib Haasan Zakariyya, who served with distinction for more than 11 years, passed away on January 19, 2025, at the age of 55 after a battle with cancer.

Shuaib, a distinguished figure in the judiciary with over two decades of service, spent more than 11 years as a High Court judge before retiring in November 2022.

His contributions to the legal system extended across various capacities, including as a legal officer at the Justice Ministry and as a judge of the Family Court, Civil Court, and Juvenile court. He also held a Master of Comparative Law from Malaysia's International Islamic University.

In honour of Shuaib’s passing, the Supreme Court has ordered the judicial flag to be flown at half-mast until 6:00 pm on January 21, as directed by Chief Justice Ahmed Muthasim Adnan.

Shuaib’s funeral will take place at 11:00 pm on January 20, at Aasaharaa.

His death marks a profound loss for the judiciary and the legal community, who remember him for his exemplary service, dedication, and contributions to justice.
