Indian High Commissioner pays courtesy call on Foreign Minister

G Balasubramaniam, the new High Commissioner of India to the Maldives, has paid a courtesy visit to the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Dr Abdulla Khaleel, on January 20, 2025. 

The discussions focused on strengthening the Maldives-India partnership, with both sides exploring opportunities to deepen collaboration and sustain the positive momentum of their bilateral relations.

Minister Dr Khaleel congratulated the High Commissioner on presenting his credentials to President Dr Mohamed Muizzu. He expressed gratitude on behalf of the Maldivian Government and its people, for India’s consistent support, which has played a significant role in advancing the country’s developmental initiatives and highlighted the enduring friendship and shared commitment between the two nations in fostering mutual progress.

High Commissioner Balasubramaniam reiterated India’s commitment to enhancing ties with Maldives. He also expressed keen interest in working closely with the Maldivian Government to expand cooperation in key areas and further solidify the partnership.

The meeting was attended by senior officials from both sides including Foreign Secretary, Fathmath Inaya, Ambassador at Large, Mohamed Fahmy Hassan, Joint Secretary, Dr Ibrahim Zuhuree, Director, Ahmed Suzil, and Director, Aishath Shahula, and Deputy High Commissioner of India, Kumar Gaurav.
