President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has expressed his appreciation for the initiatives taken by local councils in island development, describing the efforts of the Vaadhoo Council as a model of progress.
During a meeting with the Vaadhoo Council and Women’s Development Committee at the council office, the President praised their work and encouraged them to continue advancing the island’s development.
At the meeting, the council provided an update on their ongoing projects, highlighting a renewable energy initiative aimed at delivering a sustainable energy solution for Vaadhoo.
They also raised key concerns, including coastal erosion, the need for better health centre services, promoting sports opportunities for the island's youth, transportation challenges, and the urgent completion of the island’s harbour project.
In response, President Dr Muizzu reaffirmed the Government’s commitment to renewable energy initiatives, emphasising that Vaadhoo’s solar energy project would resolve the island’s electricity challenges. He assured the council and Women’s Development Committee that the issues they highlighted will be addressed.
Additionally, accompanying ministers also shared updates on the progress of various development projects in Vaadhoo.
