The Bank of Maldives (BML) has entered into an agreement with the An'golhitheemu Council in Raa Atoll to bring ATM services to the island, enhancing banking access for its residents.
The new ATM in An'golhitheemu will allow residents to conduct essential banking transactions without travelling to neighbouring islands, addressing a key need for local accessibility.
The agreement was formalised during a meeting held as part of President Dr Mohamed Muizzu’s visit to islands in North Maalhosmadulu Atoll.
Representing the bank, BML’s Director of Retail and SME Banking, Badhruddeen Hassan, signed the agreement alongside Faisal Naseem, President of the Angolhitheemu Council.
This initiative is part of BML’s broader plan, announced in November 2024, to install ATMs on every inhabited island in the Maldives by the end of 2025. The project also aligns with the Government’s pledge to improve access to essential banking services nationwide.
Currently, BML operates 150 ATMs across 90 islands. By the end of March 2025, the bank aims to extend its network to 17 additional islands, ensuring convenience and financial inclusion for more communities.
