Government to implement over 2,100 projects to fulfil Presidential pledges

President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has announced that the Government will implement 2,130 projects across the Maldives this year and the coming year to fulfil the 2,129 pledges he has made.

Addressing a press conference held at the President’s Office this morning, the President said the pledges include commitments made on various platforms, comprising 289 in his official manifesto, 1,051 during the Presidential campaign, 484 during visits to different islands, and 305 at public events.

He stated that all Government appointments to ministerial and other leadership positions were made with the goal of delivering on these promises. According to the President, the President’s Office is actively monitoring the implementation of each commitment through a structured system.

The President also released a breakdown of the 2,130 projects scheduled for rollout in 2024 and 2025, covering a wide range of sectors and development priorities:

• Sports: 551 projects

• Waste management: 153 projects

• Health: 131 projects

• Schools: 141 projects

• Banking: 136 projects

• Other: 72 projects

• Council secretariats: 116 projects

• Road construction: 112 projects

• Harbour development: 104 projects

• Police service: 95 projects

• Water and sewerage: 86 projects

• Park construction: 51 projects

• Mosque construction: 50 projects

• Beach construction: 46 projects

• Housing: 37 projects

• Land reclamation: 42 projects

• ID card and passport services: 33 projects

• Fisheries: 30 projects

• Airports: 27 projects

• Higher education: 23 projects

• Tourism: 10 projects

• Fuel skid: 20 projects

• Economic: 19 projects

• Electricity: 26 projects

• Bridges: 10 projects

• Environment: 2 projects

• Drug rehabilitation and response: 4 projects

• Ferry system: 3 projects

The President said the Government is making the necessary preparations to expedite the implementation of these projects and ensure timely delivery across the islands.
