President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has stated he is confident that 80 percent of citizens would support the introduction of a taxi line service aimed at improving Malé City's transportation system.
Speaking at a press conference held at the President’s Office on Saturday, President Dr Muizzu addressed concerns raised by taxi drivers and the Taxi Association, clarifying that the purpose of the new system is not to create competition but to improve convenience and efficiency.
The President said the planned taxi line would not only benefit commuters but also create new opportunities for drivers. He emphasised that the system would help meet public demand for a reliable, well-structured taxi service.
President Dr Muizzu stated that he was confident if a vote were held today, 80 percent of the people would support this initiative.
He added that the introduction of clean, environmentally friendly vehicles would further enhance the service, contributing to a more organised and sustainable transport network.
