The Ministry of Construction, Housing and Infrastructure has announced preparations to issue new registrations for recipients of land plots allocated under the Binveriya Scheme.
The move follows changes to the land use plan published in the Government Gazette, which resulted in the reallocation of plots originally awarded under the scheme. As part of the changes, land previously designated in Giraavaru Lagoon has been reassigned to the newly reclaimed area of Gulhifalhu.
To facilitate this transition, a new draw was held on May 30, 2025 at Usfasgandu for eligible recipients. As a result, previous land registrations and signed agreements have been cancelled.
The Ministry stated that, from Tuesday, appointments can be requested through the Hiyaavahi Portal to collect new registration documents. Appointments will be available from July 1, with document issuance beginning on July 7 from 9:30 a.m.
Applicants will need to submit the following documents via the Hiyaavahi Portal when requesting an appointment: a copy of the witness’s ID card; and if a representative is attending, a notarised power of attorney and their ID card copy, along with copies of the previously signed agreement and registration.
The Ministry advised that appointments will be cancelled if recipients fail to attend within five minutes of their scheduled time or do not provide the required documents.
The date, time, and location of each appointment will be shared with applicants through the Hiyaavahi Portal and via SMS, according to the Ministry.
