The Maldives Resort Volley League 2025 officially commenced with the inauguration of its North Malé League, officiated by Vice President Uz Hussain Mohamed Latheef during a ceremony held recently.

Organised by the Volleyball Academy of Maldives, this year’s tournament brings together 17 participating resorts and is structured across four zones.

The league aims to promote friendship and team spirit among resort employees, while enhancing their physical and mental well-being and improving volleyball skills.

Upon his arrival at the opening ceremony, the Vice President was received by Mohamed Shaafee, President of the Volleyball Academy of Maldives. Before the match began, the Vice President met with players from both teams, encouraging them and expressing appreciation for their contribution to sportsmanship and unity within resort communities.

The opening match featured Meeru Island Resort and One&Only Reethi Rah. In a strong performance, One&Only Reethi Rah emerged victorious with a straight-sets win of 3–0. At the conclusion of the match, the Vice President presented the Man of the Match trophy, closing the evening’s programme.
