Maldives Police Service has announced that action will be taken against motorists who park illegally on the newly completed sections of Boduthakurufaanu Magu.

In a post shared on social media, police said the second to fifth segments of the Boduthakurufaanu Magu redevelopment project have now been completed and opened to the public. They reminded motorists that parking is only permitted in designated parking areas along the upgraded road.

Police said vehicles parked outside the designated areas obstruct traffic flow and pose risks to public safety and security. They urged motorists to use only the marked parking spaces, warning that enforcement action will be taken against those who violate the regulations.

The completed section of the project includes 737 metres of sheet piling and newly constructed seawalls. A modern drainage system has also been installed beneath the road to address flooding during the rainy season.

In addition, a parking area with space for approximately 500 motorcycles has been developed near the Bank of Maldives.

President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has previously said that once work on the northern section of Boduthakurufaanu Magu is completed, construction will begin on the remaining section of the road. The next phase will extend from the MPL North Harbour area along the western side of Boduthakurufaanu Magu to the Dharumavantha Hospital area.
