Sri Lankan President Anura Kumara Disanayaka has arrived in the Maldives for a three-day state visit at the invitation of President Dr Mohamed Muizzu.

The visit, scheduled from 28 to 30 July, is President Disanayaka’s first state visit to the Maldives since taking office in September 2024. He was received at Velana International Airport by President Dr Muizzu, where a cultural performance was also held in his honour. A formal welcoming ceremony is scheduled to take place later today.

During the visit, the two leaders will hold official talks aimed at strengthening bilateral cooperation across various sectors. Joint press statements outlining the outcomes of their discussions are expected to follow.

The state visit also coincides with the 60th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the Maldives and Sri Lanka, established on 26 July 1965.
