The Maldives recorded its highest single day tourist arrivals of 2025 on Sunday, with 9,903 visitors entering the country, reflecting the strong momentum of the peak tourism season.
Tourist arrivals have remained consistently high over recent days. On Friday, 8,368 tourists arrived, followed by 9,584 arrivals on Saturday. As of 28 December, total tourist arrivals for the year have reached 2.22 million, with more than 200,000 visitors recorded in December alone.
In response to the surge in passenger traffic, Maldives Airports Company Limited (MACL) said additional staff have been deployed across key service areas at the airport. The measures aim to support passenger movement, provide guidance, and manage queues during peak hours.
MACL said steps are being taken to ensure smooth and regular operations despite increased congestion, with ongoing efforts to streamline services in coordination with relevant airport stakeholders.
The Maldives welcomed its two millionth tourist of the year on 27 November. The milestone was reached earlier than last year, when the country crossed the two million visitor mark for the first time.
