President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has concluded his official visit to China, undertaken at the invitation of President Xi Jinping.

During the visit, President Dr Muizzu attended the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Summit and participated in the “SCO Plus” meeting, where he called on the international community to unite in supporting justice, dignity, and peace for the Palestinian people.

He also held a bilateral meeting with President Xi Jinping, during which both leaders reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening cooperation and advancing shared interests between the Maldives and China.

A number of agreements and Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) were also signed between the Maldives and China to expand cooperation in areas such as capacity building, economic development, infrastructure, and renewable energy.

On the sidelines of the SCO summit, President Dr Muizzu met with several world leaders, including Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, to enhance diplomatic ties and explore opportunities for collaboration.

In addition, President Dr Muizzu attended the Commemoration of the 80th Anniversary of the Victory of the Chinese People in the Second World War, joining other global leaders at the event.
