The Ministry of Infrastructure, Housing and Urban Development has introduced a third category to the Government’s Binveriyaa housing scheme, following amendments to the programme’s regulations published in the Government Gazette.

The ministry stated the new category allows applicants from the previous Binveriyaa scheme to amend their applications. This includes individuals who initially applied for land as single applicants but now wish to switch to flats, as well as those seeking to move between joint and single applications for land or housing.

Applications under the third category will be open from May 10 to May 31. The ministry also confirmed that the deadline for applications for land and flats under the current housing programme has been extended to May 31.

Under the scheme, Category 1 covers applicants who submitted joint applications, while Category 2 includes individuals who received flats under a Government social housing programme but were unable to apply for Binveriyaa. The newly introduced Category 3 accommodates those seeking to revise their previous applications.

The Government plans to allocate 7,900 flats and land plots measuring 1,250 square feet under its family housing programme. Of the flats, 4,000 are designated for Malé residents, 1,500 for non-residents living in the capital, and 2,400 for special categories. In addition, 25,000 land plots are to be allocated in Rasmalé, with 15,000 plots expected to be announced in the first phase.
