President Dr Mohamed Muizzu will undertake a state visit to Sri Lanka from May 3 to 6, at the invitation of Sri Lankan President Anura Kumara Disanayake.

During the visit, President Dr Muizzu is scheduled to hold official talks with President Disanayake and meet senior Sri Lankan officials, with discussions focused on strengthening bilateral relations. The two leaders are also expected to witness the exchange of several Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) across key sectors.

The agreements will cover areas including defence cooperation, education and training, health collaboration, tourism development, archival work, and youth and sports initiatives. These include partnerships between Maldivian ministries and Sri Lankan institutions aimed at expanding technical cooperation and capacity building.

President Dr Muizzu will be accompanied by First Lady Sajidha Mohamed, along with a delegation of Cabinet ministers and senior Government officials. The visit reflects the Administration’s continued focus on strengthening partnerships that support national development.

Sri Lanka remains one of the Maldives’ closest regional partners, with diplomatic relations between the two countries dating back to 1965. President Disanayake’s visit to the Maldives last year, marking the 60th anniversary of bilateral ties, further underscored the longstanding relationship between the two nations.
