The Maldives Digital Summit, aimed at advancing the country’s digital transformation, has concluded successfully, bringing together policymakers and international experts to support the “Digital First Nation” agenda under the Maldives 2.0 vision.

Held from April 27 to 29 and organised by Maldives Digital Service in collaboration with the World Bank, the summit brought together senior officials from Government ministries, the President’s Office and key institutions, alongside global partners.

Speaking at the closing ceremony, Minister of State for Homeland Security, Labour and Technology Dr Mohamed Kinaanath said the discussions strengthened coordination among policymakers and laid the groundwork for accelerating digital transformation. He noted that the initiative provides a foundation for building a data-driven system that prioritises public needs.

The summit featured participation from international experts, including former Moldovan digitalisation prime minister Iurie Turcanu, South Korea’s National Information Society Agency vice president Yoon Seok Ko, and former UK Government Digital Service programme director Jessica McEvoy.

Key areas discussed included strengthening institutional coordination, establishing a secure national data exchange platform, advancing digital identity systems, promoting secure digital transactions, and ensuring the responsible use of emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence.

The summit forms part of efforts to enhance public service delivery and build a digitally enabled State, with continued focus on implementing the Maldives 2.0 roadmap.
