Fahi Dhiriulhun Corporation (FDC) has announced that more than 3,000 flats have been signed under Gedhoruveriya housing scheme, and recipients can now begin making security deposit payments.
According to FDC, flat recipients who have signed their agreements can now make their deposits through the corporation’s online portal. The process is being carried out in the same streamlined manner as the agreement signings.
The Ministry of Construction, Housing and Infrastructure has so far sent the names of 3,402 applicants to FDC for agreement drafting. Of these, 3,088 are scheduled to sign, and 3,032 agreements have been completed to date.
FDC has stated that keys to the apartments will be handed over once recipients register for utility services and complete the deposit payment. The deposit has been set at MVR 15,000 for two-bedroom units and MVR 25,000 for three-bedroom units, payable in a lump sum. However, recipients will be given adequate time to settle the payment.
The Government earlier announced that monthly rents would be reduced through subsidies for prompt payers. Three-bedroom units, initially set at MVR 13,000, will cost MVR 9,000 per month for those who pay rent on time, while two-bedroom units have been reduced from MVR 9,000 to MVR 7,000.
