The Attorney General’s Office has celebrated its 75th anniversary with the launch of a commemorative book, a new AI-enabled website, and an awards ceremony recognising long-serving staff.

At the official function, held at Barceló Nasandhura, President Dr Mohamed Muizzu inaugurated the Diamond Jubilee Commemorative Book and unveiled the Office’s redesigned website. The website is designed to be more user-friendly and incorporates modern technology to allow faster access to documents and information.

A key feature of the new site is an Artificial Intelligence (AI) chat tool, which enables users to obtain legal information, including specific provisions of Maldivian laws and related topics. The Attorney General’s Office noted that while the feature is still in its early stages, it is expected to provide more detailed answers to legal questions in the future.

During the ceremony, a total of 36 employees were honoured for their years of service to the Attorney General’s Office. Awards were presented to 22 staff members for 15–20 years of service, five for 20–25 years, and nine for more than 25 years. President Dr Muizzu personally presented awards to seven women who had served the longest, while Attorney General Uz Ahmed Usham presented awards to the rest. He also presented a commemorative plaque to the President on the occasion.

Award recipients included administrative personnel, human resources officers, computer technicians, directors and procurement staff. The honours recognised their outstanding contributions to the Office’s work over the past decades.

The event was attended by senior officials from the People’s Majlis and the judiciary, former Attorneys General, as well as current and former staff of the Attorney General’s Office.
