Minister of Foreign Affairs Dr Abdulla Khaleel has departed for Doha to take part in the preparatory meeting of foreign ministers for the Emergency Arab-Islamic Summit, convened by the State of Qatar.

Via his official X account, Minister Dr Khaleel said he looks forward to engaging with counterparts from across the Islamic world to discuss the recent Israeli strike on Qatar, as well as Israel’s actions in Palestine and the region. He said the Maldives stands in solidarity with Qatar and will support efforts to hold Israel accountable for violations of international law.

The attack earlier this week, which left several people dead and injured, has been widely condemned across the Arab and Islamic world as a violation of Qatar’s sovereignty and international law.
