President conveys Maldives’ solidarity during meeting with Qatari Amir

President Dr Mohamed Muizzu conveyed the Maldives’ solidarity with Qatar during an audience with Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, Amir of the State of Qatar, on 15 September.
The President extended his condolences over the loss of lives and condemned the violation of Qatar’s sovereignty, pledging the Maldives’ support for its efforts to safeguard peace and stability in the region during the meeting which was held at the Sheraton Doha Hotel on the sidelines of the Emergency Arab-Islamic Summit .
President Dr Muizzu also commended Qatar’s role in hosting the summit and acknowledged its continued contributions to humanitarian assistance and mediation efforts on behalf of Palestine. He underlined the Maldives’ commitment to work closely with the international community to advance peace and justice in the region.
Discussions further focused on bilateral ties, with both leaders agreeing to expand cooperation in areas of mutual interest. The President thanked the Amir for Qatar’s sustained support to the Maldives and expressed interest in exploring new avenues for partnership.
Concluding their talks, the two leaders reiterated their shared commitment to strengthening Maldives–Qatar relations and emphasised the importance of unity among Muslim nations. They also reaffirmed support for a two-state solution as the only path to ensuring the sovereignty and self-determination of the Palestinian people.
