President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has concluded his official visit to Qatar, where he attended the Emergency Arab-Islamic Summit convened in Doha on 15 September 2025.
The Summit was organised by the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) following the recent Israeli attack on Qatar, bringing together leaders from across the Islamic world to call for an immediate end to hostilities and decisive international action.
During the Summit, President Dr Muizzu strongly condemned the Israeli attack on Qatar, describing it as a crime against humanity and an assault on the dignity of the Arab and Islamic world. He reaffirmed the Maldives’ unwavering solidarity with Qatar and the Palestinian people, urging urgent and coordinated international measures to hold Israeli leaders accountable for war crimes.
The President further stressed the need for immediate delivery of humanitarian aid to Gaza and the West Bank, warning that words alone would not be enough to halt the violence or rebuild shattered lives.
On the sidelines of the Summit, President Dr Muizzu held an audience with Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, the Amir of Qatar. He conveyed condolences over the lives lost in the recent attack, expressed solidarity with both Qatar and Palestine, and discussed ways to further strengthen bilateral relations and cooperation in areas of mutual interest.
