President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has reaffirmed that all development projects launched in Alifu Dhaalu Dhan’gethi, including those whose practical works began and agreements were signed during his visit, will receive priority from the Government.

Speaking to residents during the visit, the President said his purpose was to fulfil the pledges he had made to the people. He noted that several key projects have now started practical works and new agreements have been signed to accelerate Dhan’gethi’s development.

Highlighting the school development project, the President said the new facility, which will include ten classrooms and a multipurpose hall, was essential to meet the island’s growing educational needs. He assured that the project would move ahead swiftly and deliver results that would satisfy students, teachers, and parents.

President Dr Muizzu also spoke about the nationwide programme to install air conditioning in schools, stating that all schools will be equipped with AC units by the end of the year. He added that the second phase will focus on air conditioning school halls.

Addressing the land reclamation project, for which the agreement was signed on the same day, the President said it was a long-standing request from the community, particularly the youth. He stressed that land reclamation will be vital for improving housing, strengthening social and infrastructure development, and supporting economic activity in Dhan’gethi.

The President also highlighted the importance of strengthening local tourism on the island and announced that a dollar ATM will be installed in Dhan'gethi before March next year.

He further noted that work on extending the island’s health centre, contracted to the Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC), will begin soon after the council finalises the land. Other projects planned for the island include harbour development, a football ground, and a cultural centre.

President Dr Muizzu reiterated that all projects launched or agreed upon during his visit will continue with priority through coordination with the relevant ministries, describing the initiatives as important steps in advancing Dhan’gethi’s development.
