Hulhumalé Hospital has begun offering knee surgery services utilising advanced arthroscopic technology, a significant step forward in enhancing healthcare quality in the Maldives.
The procedure, known as arthroscopic (keyhole) knee surgery, involves the use of a small camera to diagnose and treat knee problems with minimal invasion. The hospital’s medical team carried out an arthroscopic ACL reconstruction surgery to treat a knee ligament injury, making it the first of its kind at the facility.
Ibrahim Abdul Razzaq Haleem, CEO of the Malé City Group of Hospitals, stated that the introduction of the new surgical technique will enable patients to recover faster and with fewer complications. He added that Hulhumalé Hospital continues to expand its services and upgrade medical standards to meet the growing healthcare needs of the community.
As part of the Government’s effort to enhance healthcare infrastructure, plans are underway to construct a new 10-storey building to address space limitations and support the hospital’s expanding range of specialised services.
