President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has announced plans to upgrade Shaviyani Noomaraa’s harbour and establish a new health laboratory, during his meeting with the residents.
The President said the harbour project would be designed in line with community needs, featuring a boat docking area and a safe swimming zone. He also assured that water and sewerage works would continue smoothly.
Reaffirming his commitment to improving healthcare services, President Dr Muizzu said a health laboratory will be built in Noomaraa, adding that by the end of 2026, every inhabited island in the Maldives will have laboratory testing facilities meeting Ministry of Health standards.
The President noted that the 2026 State budget will include funds for several new projects in Noomaraa, including a modern football ground, a volleyball court, and a multipurpose school hall.
He further announced that the relocation of the island’s powerhouse will be completed by the end of Ramadan next year, with full Government support to Fenaka Corporation.
This is President Dr Muizzu’s first official visit to Noomaraa since taking office. During his earlier meeting with the island’s council and Women’s Development Committee, residents had highlighted the need for sports facilities and improved public services; priorities now being addressed through ongoing projects.
