President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has announced plans to upgrade the Maaun’goodhoo Health Centre into a 24-hour facility, during his visit to the inhabited islands of Shaviyani Atoll.
Despite delays to some inauguration ceremonies due to rain, the President assured residents that all development projects would proceed as planned. Key initiatives include the health centre extension, and new buildings for the Council Secretariat, Maaun’goodhoo School, the Centre for the Holy Quran, a fitness and recreation centre, and the Police Station.
President Dr Muizzu also highlighted progress on major infrastructure projects. The Maldives Water and Sewerage Company (MWSC) will take over stalled water and sewerage network works, while the Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) will incorporate residents’ feedback and accelerate the harbour development project. Additional plans include beach development alongside shore protection, as well as the construction of football grounds and a mosque, scheduled for next year’s budget.
Concluding the ceremony, the President expressed gratitude to residents and reaffirmed the Government’s commitment to a citizen-focused approach to governance, which continues to guide national development efforts.
