The Maldives Meteorological Service (MET) has forecast mostly cloudy weather with rough seas over the next 24 hours, as a depression in the Indian Ocean continues to affect weather conditions across the country.

According to the MET, moderate to heavy rain is expected in many parts of the Maldives, with thunderstorms likely in some areas. A white alert has been issued from Kaafu Atoll to Thaa Atoll between 9:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. today, with winds expected to range between 19 and 24 mph and gusts reaching up to 45 mph during showers.

Another white alert has been issued from Haa Alifu to Baa Atoll from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. today, warning of heavy rain, thunderstorms, and strong gusts of wind up to 45 mph.

The MET stated that while scattered showers are expected across the country, the weather is forecast to gradually clear by Friday.

The agency has urged seafarers to exercise caution due to strong winds and advised the public to take necessary precautions against potential hazards caused by heavy rainfall.
