Key development projects were inaugurated in Laamu Maamendhoo as part of President Dr Mohamed Muizzu’s ongoing tour of the atoll. Minister of Cities, Local Government and Public Works Adam Shareef Umar officiated the groundbreaking ceremony for the new Council Secretariat, a project aimed at improving local governance and administrative services. 

During the same visit, Minister of Health Ahmed Nazim inaugurated laboratory services at the Maamendhoo Health Centre, expanding diagnostic healthcare capacity for residents. Following the inauguration, President Dr Muizzu toured the facility, accompanied by senior officials, reaffirming the Administration’s commitment to strengthening essential infrastructure in the islands. Agreements were also signed for Maamendhoo harbour development, land reclamation, coastal protection and road upgrades.
