The Maldives Airports Company Limited (MACL) has held the Winter Readiness 2025/2026 Kickoff Meeting to discuss preparations for the upcoming peak travel season.

The meeting focused on identifying key operational challenges, proposing effective solutions, and strengthening interdepartmental coordination to ensure smooth and efficient airport operations throughout the busy season.

Opening the session, MACL Chief Commercial Officer (CCO) Mohamed Mihad emphasised the company’s role as a service provider, noting the importance of readiness and teamwork ahead of the peak period. He described the meeting as one of the most crucial held by MACL in preparation for the high-demand winter months.

CCO Mihad further urged all departments and staff to deliver services that meet or exceed customer expectations, adding that achieving this standard requires optimising resources, fostering collaboration, and adopting a proactive mindset across the organisation.

The meeting was attended by MACL executives and department heads.

The winter season and New Year period is the busiest time for VIA, with 7,558 flights operated during the same period last year. Preparations this year are supported by the airport’s newly opened Terminal 1, which is expected to play a key role in handling the increased traffic and supporting the national target of 2.3 million tourist arrivals.
