The Housing Development Corporation (HDC) has launched efforts to clear chairs, tables, and large trees obstructing walkways and drainage systems across Hulhumalé as part of its ongoing Hihfaseyha Hulhumalé campaign.

The initiative, which began on 25 October 2025, aims to address difficulties faced by pedestrians due to furniture placed along streets, as well as resolve flooding and tarmac damage caused by poor water drainage linked to large trees planted along hedges.

According to HDC, the clean-up and removal works will be conducted across 12 designated zones in collaboration with the Maldives Food and Drug Authority (MFDA) and the Hulhumalé Police.

HDC further stated that additional activities are planned under the Hihfaseyha Hulhumalé campaign in the coming months to enhance public safety, accessibility and environmental management in the city.
