The first batch of 18 new ambulances destined for the Maldives has successfully completed inspection in Dubai, United Arab Emirates (UAE).

The vehicles are being procured under a contract awarded by the Ministry of Health to Maldives Ports Limited (MPL) for the import of a total of 56 ambulances. According to MPL, the initial 18 units underwent detailed inspection and quality checks in Dubai by a joint team from the company and the Ministry of Health.

The new ambulances are part of the Government’s ongoing efforts to enhance emergency medical response capacity across the country. In addition to these ambulances, President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has also announced plans to expand the sea ambulance fleet next year to ensure timely access to emergency healthcare services in all inhabited islands.
