Coast Guard deployed following landing craft capsising --
A Maldives Ports Limited (MPL) landing craft capsised near the MPL port area early this morning, with fourteen people on board, including several foreign nationals.
Six individuals were injured in the incident - two Bangladeshis and four Maldivians - and were taken to Indhira Gandhi Memorial Hospital for treatment. A 32-year-old Bangladeshi sustained the most serious injuries, while a 25-year-old Maldivian also suffered significant injuries.
According to MPL, the landing craft was carrying materials for port maintenance and repair work when it overturned at around 3:44 a.m. Authorities are currently investigating the cause of the accident.
This marks the second such incident in the region this year. On 15 October, another landing craft capsised, claiming the lives of three people - one Maldivian, one Indian, and one Sri Lankan.
