Housing Development Corporation (HDC) has announced that 75 per cent of the ongoing elevator installation project at Hiyaa Towers has been completed, with new elevators in four towers now operational and open to the public.

The project, which involves the installation of two additional elevators in each of the 16 Hiyaa towers, is being carried out by China’s Shenyang Yuan Intelligent Group. According to HDC, the main structural works in all towers have been completed, and installation is progressing steadily, with most towers now past the halfway mark.

As of the latest update, installation works in Towers 1 to 4 have been fully completed. Tower 5 stands at 93 per cent completion, Tower 6 at 92 per cent, while Towers 7 and 8 are 75 per cent complete. The remaining towers range between 50 per cent and 73 per cent completion.

Once finished, the project will add a total of 32 new elevators across the 16 towers, enhancing accessibility and easing congestion for residents. The new elevators are designed to accommodate patients and stretchers, and will include floor numbers in Braille for the visually impaired.

The project delivers on President Dr Mohamed Muizzu’s commitment to improve accessibility and living conditions for Hiyaa residents. Each Hiyaa tower houses around 400 apartments and nearly 2,000 residents, underscoring the importance of these infrastructure upgrades to the community.
