The Managing Director of the Maldives Hajj Corporation, Mohamed Shakeel, has described the administration of former President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih as having caused the biggest financial loss to both the State and private sector in the country’s history.

He stated that the previous government’s fiscal mismanagement and failure to release due payments to businesses had severely impacted national finances and economic stability.

In a post on X, MD Shakeel said that President Dr Mohamed Muizzu’s Administration is now working to repair the damage by settling outstanding dues and accelerating development across the country. He noted that funds previously withheld from private companies are now being disbursed, and large-scale infrastructure projects worth billions have been initiated to stimulate economic recovery.
