The National Integrity Commission (NIC) and the Maldives Police Service (MPS) have held a high-level meeting to strengthen collaboration and improve the effectiveness of investigations while safeguarding citizens’ rights.

The meeting, led by Commissioner of Police Ismail Naveen and NIC Chairperson Shuaib Abdul Rahman, focused on enhancing coordination between the two institutions to uphold transparency, accountability, and the rule of law. Discussions centred on developing a structured mechanism for information sharing to support NIC investigations and promote greater institutional cooperation.

Both parties also agreed to collaborate on professional development programmes, including specialised training for investigative staff. The joint initiatives aim to familiarise officers with the procedures of both institutions and improve the overall efficiency of investigations.

The meeting was attended by senior officials, including Deputy Commissioner of Police Farhad Fikry, Assistant Commissioner of Police Ahmed Mohamed, and NIC members.

The NIC plays a key role in ensuring accountability within law enforcement agencies, overseeing police conduct, and addressing public complaints related to policing standards in the Maldives.
