President Dr Mohamed Muizzu will confer the National Award for Public Service and the National Award for Special Achievement at the Republic Day ceremony scheduled for Tuesday.

In an announcement made on Monday, the President’s Office stated that 97 individuals who have served the Government for 35 to 39 years will receive the National Award for Public Service. 

Additionally, the National Award for Special Achievement will be presented to 33 individuals in recognition of their exceptional skills, performance, and contributions to national development. The award celebrates individuals whose accomplishments bring national pride, and similar to previous years, it features four categories.

The National Awards Committee is responsible for vetting and selecting recipients for these prestigious State honours.

Earlier, during this year’s Independence Day ceremony in July, 94 individuals who had served the Government for over 40 years were honoured with the National Award for Public Service in recognition of their long-term contribution to the State.
