Minister of Health Abdulla Nazim Ibrahim has emphasised that public participation is essential in creating a healthier society free from disease, highlighting it as one of the Administration’s foremost priorities. He made the remarks while speaking at the opening ceremony of Health Expo 2025, held at Central Park in Hulhumalé.
Minister Nazim stated that the Government is placing strong focus on raising public awareness and ensuring the dissemination of accurate, quality health information. He described the Health Expo 2025 as a testament to these efforts and extended appreciation to private sector partners and civil society organisations for their continued support in promoting national wellbeing.
The Minister further noted that the Government is working to improve the quality of healthcare services while strengthening the country’s preventive healthcare system to curb the spread of non-communicable diseases. He stressed that President Dr Mohamed Muizzu’s health policy centres on safeguarding citizens from disease and fostering a healthier nation, with several initiatives already underway to realise that vision.
Minister Nazim also revealed that legislative and institutional reforms are being pursued to strengthen the powers of enforcement agencies in the health sector. He expressed confidence that the positive outcomes of the Government’s ongoing efforts to build a strong, disease-free society will soon be visible across the country.
