The Government’s aim and vision has always been to increase self sufficiency of the people across various sectors, Vice President Uz Hussain Mohamed Latheef has said.
Speaking to State media on the Administration’s two-year anniversary, the Vice President said the next three years will see development projects move forward at full speed.
The Vice President noted that the Administration took office with full awareness of the country’s difficult financial and institutional situation. He added that early development efforts were further hindered by the opposition’s parliamentary majority and attempts through Parliament to undermine a legally elected Government. Despite these challenges, he said the Administration achieved substantial progress.
He said many initial obstacles were overcome through President Dr Mohamed Muizzu’s long-term vision, adding that the coming years will feature extensive national development projects guided by this roadmap.
The Vice President stated that the President does not hesitate to make difficult decisions when they benefit the public, and that such initiatives are carefully planned and supported with the necessary legal authority. He said this approach is now showing clear signs of good governance.
He also highlighted the President’s commitment to his responsibilities, noting his continuous work both in office and during atoll visits. The Vice President stated that President Dr Muizzu’s focus on improving prosperity is reflected in major initiatives, including the expansion of Velana International Airport, improvements in domestic air travel and transport system enhancements.
He reaffirmed that the Government will continue working to address key national issues, protect basic rights, increase incomes and strengthen economic and social stability.
