President Dr Mohamed Muizzu and First Lady Sajidha Mohamed hosted a luncheon on Tuesday afternoon for the Palestine U-17 national football team at the Hotel Jen Ballroom.

The Palestinian team is in the Maldives for a training camp ahead of the AFC U-17 Asian Cup qualifiers and played two friendly matches against the Maldives U-17 team during their visit. President Dr Muizzu and Vice President Uz Hussain Mohamed Latheef had earlier purchased limited-edition souvenir tickets for the matches, with all proceeds donated to the Palestinian Football Association to support its efforts to rebuild and develop football in the affected nation.

At the luncheon, players and officials of the Palestinian team expressed their gratitude to the President for facilitating their training camp in the Maldives.

Senior Government officials and members of the Maldives U-17 team also attended the luncheon.
