Contracts signed to upgrade Haa Alifu Atoll Hospital and Dhuvaafaru Health Centre

The Government has awarded contracts to two private companies to improve health infrastructure in Haa Alifu Atoll Hospital and Raa Atoll’s Dhuvaafaru Health Centre. 

Perfect Malafehi Maldives Pvt Ltd has been contracted to construct a diagnostic services building at Haa Alifu Atoll Hospital for MVR 4.9 million, with completion scheduled within six months. The agreement was signed by State Minister for Health Ahmed Qasim on behalf of the Government, while the company was represented by Marketing Manager Mohamed Imad.

The new diagnostic block will include a CT scan room, X-ray room, ultrasound facility, and a dedicated room for speech therapy services.

Meanwhile, Altec Maldives Pvt Ltd has been awarded a MVR 25.5 million contract to upgrade the Dhuvaafaru Health Centre to hospital status, with the project also to be completed within six months. The agreement was signed by State Minister Ahmed Qasim and Altec’s General Manager Hussain Thasmeen.

Under the project, a new facility will be constructed, including an operating theatre complex, an intensive care unit (ICU), a nurse station, procedure rooms, as well as medical and non-medical storage areas.

According to the Ministry of Health several other projects are currently underway across the atolls as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen healthcare services and expand access to essential medical facilities.
