The Judicial Service Commission (JSC) has made the decision to refer Criminal Court Judge Hussain Faiz Rashad to Parliament for removal from office.

The Commission said that its inquiry committee found Judge Faiz had acted in violation of the Constitution and the law in a ruling on the remand of a suspect arrested in a criminal case.

According to the JSC, his actions breached Article 33(g) of the Judiciary Act as well as Articles 1.1, 2.1, and 3.1 of the Code of Conduct for Judges.

Judge Faiz was already serving a 60-day suspension at the time the decision to seek his removal was taken.
