The Maldives Airports Company Limited (MACL) has launched the SYNEX (Synergy Exchange) programme, an initiative aimed at digitalising its operations and supporting the growth of local software enterprises.
The programme was officially inaugurated by MACL Executive Director Ibrahim Mahdy at a ceremony held at Velana International Airport (VIA).
SYNEX is designed to promote small and medium software enterprises in the Maldives by enabling them to collaborate with MACL on digital solutions that enhance airport services and operational efficiency.
Speaking at the launch, MACL Managing Director Ibrahim Shareef Mohamed said VIA’s services have undergone significant digitalisation in recent years but noted that more work remains ahead.
“We are already much more digitalised than before. However, it is just the beginning. MACL is a very profitable company and we have the capacity to hire developers ourselves,” he said, highlighting the company’s commitment to continued innovation.
MACL said the SYNEX programme aligns with President Dr Mohamed Muizzu’s Maldives 2.0 vision, which focuses on advancing digital transformation across key sectors.
