Residents of Maafannu have expressed appreciation for President Dr Mohamed Muizzu’s willingness to meet directly with the community and listen to their concerns during a public consultative session held last night.
Following the meeting, Ahmed Adhuhan, lead singer of the band Two of Us, said he was pleased that citizens had the chance to openly discuss various issues with the President. He noted that such direct engagement helps ensure that community concerns are genuinely heard.
Several residents shared similar sentiments.
A 60-year-old woman who attended the meeting said this was the first time in her life she had been given an opportunity to speak directly with a President, describing the experience as “truly meaningful.”
A young man at the event remarked that he had never seen a Maldivian President maintain this level of public outreach. He said he believes conversations held in cafés and public spaces will now have a real chance of reaching the country’s leadership and contributing to positive change.
Another elderly woman at the meeting handed a letter to the President regarding her son’s housing issue. She said she felt relieved and hopeful after the President personally assured her that the matter would be looked into.
The meeting in Maafannu is part of President Dr Muizzu’s ongoing community consultation series across the Greater Malé Region, aimed at addressing local concerns and strengthening public participation in governance.
