Minister of Economic Development and Trade Mohamed Saeed has praised President Dr Mohamed Muizzu for honouring every promise made to the public, highlighting the government’s proactive efforts in land allocation and housing development.

In a post on X, Minister Saeed shared photos of ongoing land reclamation works in Hulhumalé Phase III and a video from the President’s recent meeting with residents of Henveiru.

"What higher wisdom is there than a leader who speaks a vision, turns it into promises, and honours every one of them in office" - Minister of Economic Development and Trade Mohamed Saeed wrote

During the Henveiru community meeting, President Dr Muizzu provided updates on the Government’s largest-ever housing and land development programme. He announced that the dredging of Hulhumalé Phase III is on track for completion by the end of this year. Once finished, the two dredgers will be redeployed to Gulhifalhu, where work is expected to conclude within a few months.

The President confirmed that land plots in Gulhifalhu are being handed over to recipients, with allocations completed for all areas except those reserved for infrastructure, including bridge sites and coastal buffers. Individuals yet to receive plots will be contacted shortly, he said.

Further updates highlighted rapid progress in Rasmalé, where land reclamation is underway with two dredgers. Plans are in place to allocate 15,000 land plots, with applications opening in January. President Dr Muizzu described the initiative as a “major breakthrough” in addressing long-standing housing shortages in the Greater Malé Region.

He also noted that the Government is exploring options to offer land to residents who decline one-bedroom social housing flats, ensuring wider access to long-term housing solutions.

Minister Saeed’s remarks underscore the Administration’s commitment to fulfilling its promises, with large-scale dredging, land reclamation, and housing allocations progressing across multiple sites.
