Handover of the Fahi Dhiriulhun Corporation (FDC)’s 4,000 social housing flats is progressing on schedule, in line with the estimated dates announced earlier this month.

The housing scheme, one of the largest ever undertaken in the Maldives, began its handover process on 28 September, with Tower 14 being the first to be transferred to tenants.

FDC has since commenced handovers for Aman Udhares Towers 11, 12, 13, 15 and 16, with residents now receiving keys throughout the second week of December. Each tower consists of 120 flats, and handovers are taking place daily from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

According to the latest timeline issued by FDC, all remaining flats will be handed over by the last week of January.

Residents will begin paying rent three months after moving in, although maintenance fees will be charged from the date of occupancy.

Speaking to residents of Henveiru on Sunday night, President Dr Mohamed Muizzu reaffirmed that the handover of all FDC flats will be completed before the start of the upcoming academic year.
