The Privatisation and Corporatisation Board (PCB) has appointed Ahmed Shakeeb as the new Managing Director of Public Service Media (PSM), following the resignation of his predecessor, Ibrahim Nasreen.

Shakeeb is widely recognised as one of TV Maldives’ most prominent presenters, having fronted several of the broadcaster’s most successful programmes, including Heyambo, Hendhunu Hendhunaa, Thiya Beyfulhunge Furusathu and Thi Han’dhaanugaa. He also hosted Rayyithunnaa Eku, a podcast produced by the President’s Office in which President Dr Mohamed Muizzu responds to public questions and outlines Government policies.

Beyond broadcasting, Shakeeb has made extensive contributions to the education sector over more than 35 years. He previously served as head of the Department of Public Examinations, a role in which he played a key part in shaping national assessment standards.

PSM has not yet announced when Shakeeb will formally assume his new responsibilities.
