Aeroflot has officially begun operations at Terminal 1 of Velana International Airport, becoming the 39th airline to launch services from the new terminal.

A ceremonial ribbon-cutting was held to open the airline’s check-in counters, followed by a water salute to welcome the inaugural flight. Arriving passengers were received by the Principal Secretary to the President on Policy and Manifesto, Hussain Fahmy, Aeroflot General Manager Evgeny Ratushnyy, the Consul General of Russia Aleksei Idamkin, MACL CEO and Managing Director Ibrahim Shareef Mohamed, and senior MACL executives.

Aeroflot, the flag carrier and largest airline of Russia, will now operate regular services to the Maldives through Terminal 1.
