Special operations under Operation Alimagu commence in Malé area and Gaafu Alifu Atoll

Special operations under Operation Alimagu commenced on Sunday morning in the Malé area and Gaafu Alifu Atoll, as part of an intensified nationwide effort to dismantle drug trafficking and money laundering networks.

The latest phase of Operation Alimagu is being carried out in the Malé area and Gaafu Alifu Atoll, with a specific focus on individuals suspected of drug trafficking and related financial crimes.

Police said the operation in Gaafu Alifu Atoll involves targeted enforcement actions against suspects, including searches of individuals and associated premises. The operation is being conducted in collaboration with specialised units from the Southern Police Division, intelligence teams and the Drug Enforcement Department, utilising a coordinated, multi-agency approach.

Operation Alimagu has so far been carried out across 39 islands nationwide. The operation aims to seize illicit drugs, dismantle criminal networks and enhance community safety, with relevant Government institutions and law enforcement agencies working jointly to achieve these objectives.
